Schools are required to include details of their provision of PE and sport on their website, alongside details of their broader curriculum, so that families can compare sports provision between schools, both within and beyond the school day.
Purpose of funding
Schools must spend the additional funding on improving their provision of PE and sport, but they have freedom to choose how they do this. Possible uses for the funding might include:
•Hiring specialist PE teachers or qualified coaches to work with teachers
•Supporting and engaging the least active children through new or additional Change4Life clubs.
•Paying for professional development opportunities for teachers in PE and sport.
•Providing cover to release primary teachers for professional development in PE and sport.
•Running sport competitions, or increasing pupils' participation in the School Games.
•Buying quality assured professional development modules or materials for PE and sport.
•Providing places for pupils on after school clubs and holiday clubs.
•Pooling the additional funding with that of other local schools.
Current and future spending
We aim to provide high quality physical education for Rushall children delivered by confident members of staff who are committed to engaging pupils and developing their skills in this area of the curriculum. Furthermore, we want to provide all children with the opportunity to engage in competitive sporting activities and by delivering these opportunities, we aim to have a positive impact on their physical literacy and their health and confidence. Our offer includes opportunities to participate in after school clubs such as netball, football and cricket. We also participate in our local netball league and a range of local inter-school sporting events. Part of our focus this year has been on training staff to use the Real PE scheme of work that we use to deliver high quality PE and sport in school.
