Home learning at Rushall comes in many different forms. Across our school, we realise the importance of reading as a fundamental life skill and so this is also prioritised at home. Working in partnership with parents and families, children make good progress in reading across the school. Our most recent SATS results showed that 80% of Rushall pupils achieved the expected standard in reading at key stage two, compared to 75% of pupils nationally. In addition to this, 35% of children last year achieved greater depth in reading compared to just 28% nationally.
In order to prioritise reading, we are embarking on an ambitious project to transform our school library, and children are recognised across the school in our celebration collective worship when they have read multiples of 25 days. By taking this action, reading is at the forefront of our children's minds and they strive to improve and earn the awards for their efforts.
